Life is (still) beautiful.
No matter the difference between what you wanted and what you got… life is still beautiful.
I think it would really serve us well to remember this right now.
In life there are going to be so many times where you wanted one thing and you got another.
But the truth is that no matter what, life is still beautiful.
And you’ll realize this if you sit down and actually compare what you wanted vs. what you got.
When you do this I’m confident you’ll see that what you got still matters… and that is what makes life beautiful.
You wanted a penthouse in New York but you got a studio apartment in Minneapolis.
You wanted to be famous and influential but you got your mom and Aunt Carol liking and commenting on your photos.
You wanted to be happy, fulfilled and to always be smiling but you got fleeting happy moments dotted with lots of downs and wtfs.
You wanted a close group of friends like you see in the movies but you got one ride or die homie and a bunch of ‘here and there’ friends.
You wanted to travel the world, party on yachts and sip crystal in the club but you got a weekend trip to Ft. Lauderdale and happy hour at Applebee’s.
No matter what… I think you can still say:
My life is not what I expected but it is still beautiful.
That studio apartment in Minneapolis is beautiful. Your mom and Aunt Carol supporting you is beautiful. Those happy moments amongst sad ones are beautiful. That one ride or die homie is beautiful. That trip to Ft. Lauderdale and happy hour at Applebee’s is beautiful.
Those are beautiful moments and experiences no matter how you look at it.
They are beautiful because it might not what you wanted or expected but it’s what you have right now and life becomes a lot more fulfilling, warm and compassionate when you learn to trust its timing.
Life is still beautiful because timing is beautiful.
Timing is everything and no matter what… you are on time.
You are on time, my friend and because of that fact life is still beautiful.
You are on time - with where you are, what you’re doing, who you’re dating, who you’re not dating, the job you have or don’t have. You are on time.
For everything you wanted, you got something. It might not be what you wanted originally, but I guarantee you that if you lower your guard for a minute and practice some grace and gentleness you’ll find that what you got is still beautiful.
Open your heart to the truth that you are still on time and I know you will see beauty and grace in what life is offering you right now.
Life is beautiful because you are on time.
Everything that you have received, are receiving or will receive… even if it’s different from what you wanted... is on time.
You can’t always get what you want. Life isn’t always going to play out how you wanted, but as the homie Mick Jagger once said… if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need.
“You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you might find you get what you need.”
I think you'd be surprised by what you find when you appreciate what you got vs. what you wanted.
You’d be surprised by how clear it is that your life is still beautiful.
